Learning and Living the Gospel of Jesus Christ
A Living Prophet’s Message
Primarily Learning and Living the Gospel of Jesus Christ in our Homes
“The adversary is increasing his attacks on faith and upon us and our families at an exponential rate. To survive spiritually, we need counterstrategies and proactive plans” (President Russel M Nelson, General Conference, October 2018, Opening Remarks,” 7).”
“As you diligently work to remodel your home into a center of gospel learning, … the influence of the adversary in your life and in your home will decrease” (President Russel M Nelson, General Conference, October 2018, “Becoming Exemplary Latter-day Saints,” Ensign or Liahona, Nov. 2018, 113).
The aim of all gospel learning and teaching is to deepen our conversion and help us become more like Jesus Christ. For this reason, when we study the gospel, we’re not just looking for new information; we want to become a “new creature” (2 Corinthians 5:17). This means relying on Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ to help us change our hearts, our views, our actions, and our very natures (Come, Follow Me—For Home and Church: Book of Mormon 2024)

AG, Monument Ward (October 2023):
"Usually on Sunday nights, I study both the “Sunday School” and “Primary” lessons for the week. At night time before going to bed we talk about a principle with the kids (8 and 6 years old), my wife usually has a little cool activity planned."
JC, Ridge Ward (October 2023):
"I do my own personal study as I get ready in the morning usually listening as I go about my morning routine before work. I will listen to the summary and follow me and then I will listen to the Scriptures. If I hear something I like I will find it on my app and market.
Then as a family when we get together, I will take something that impressed me and use that as a basis for a brief discussion. We tried going through the manual and reading the chapters as a family and that was not working for us.
We tend to do this at night as my daughter is extremely busy with dance and Pom and school so we take the windows where we can find them usually in the evenings after she gets home from practice. Sometimes we have to do it while she is eating or we're doing dinner. But once in a while, it turns into something magical having a great deeper discussion but typically I would say it is not particularly eventful every time. But it's just a slow and steady consistency. We are aiming for so that you can have those once in a while great moments.
Also, we love right after church talking about what we learned in Church that day, and it's unstructured and just kind of happened spontaneously while we're having lunch and before we go about the rest of our day. These are actually my favorite discussions we have."
JH, Hillside (October 2023)
"I have to give credit to my wife on Come Follow Me in our house. The podcast is "Don't Miss This", "Taylor and Tyler" and "Follow Him". The We Believe app that has a link to a conference talk every day for that week's lesson.
Our family discussion is typically on Sundays after dinner. What often works best for us is to listen to part of one of the conference talks or a video from the lesson. Has to be fairly short and sweet for our kids.
Our kids are in seminary and we like to ask what they discussed, but that usually yields very little."
RR, Monument Ward (April 2023)
"My wife and I have grown closer to our children (aged 11, 9 and 6) and have had more opportunities to talk about Jesus Christ with them. At least two nights per week, I take 5-10 minutes with each child, individually, to read and discuss a couple of verses from the Come, Follow Me lesson. Each Sunday we also supplement this daily gospel learning by watching age appropriate programs from gospel-oriented sources, including the media library at ChurchofJesusChrist.org."
